Awning and Serving Area

Awning

The truck has an awning which covers the right side of the truck.  The awning is controled by a switch on the right side of the dash.  In case of high winds, the awning may retract automatically.

The control box shown is located over the passenger door.

Note that the Awning cannot be extended or retracted if the side door is open, because the side door handle blocks the awning. If the awning starts to retract automatically due to high winds, pull down the side door to let the awning retract.

Serving area

The light switches for the serving area are located above the sink.

Condiments and snacks are normally placed on folding tables in front of the serving area. These tables are stored in the small closet at the left rear of the kitchen.

Ice Compartment

The serving area built in ice chest for drinks is very deep.

Milk is a special problem, as it cannot be left on ice, due to health department regulations.  (They say that ice will soak through the carton and potentially contaminate the milk.   Also, if the milk ends up down in the bin, and forgotten, it could make a big mess.   The best solution is to keep the milk in the refrigerator, and bring it out on demand.  Alternately, keep a few cartons out for a short time and replace them when the last carton is used.

Note that the ice compartment has a separate drain valve.  This valve should be open to prevent water buildup in the ice compartment, which is a sanitary hazard.  The valve can be shut for short periods of time if needed.  In most cases, it will be best to put a bucket under the drain, and leave the valve open.

Serving Door

The serving door is a huge door, and can be hard to handle.  If in doubt about your ability to open or close it safely, seek help.

The serving door has a center handle, as well as latches on each side, to ensure that the door does not come open when driving.  If that happens, a light on the dash will come on, stop immediately but carefully.
